There is more to the Lake District than its world-famous natural environment. There are many towns and villages to explore, whether nestled in valleys, on the side of a lake or along the coastline. This brand new tour takes in the best of the Lake District at a great value price.
Keswick, Grasmere & Ambleside
We begin the day in the pretty market town of Keswick offering a wide range of shops, restaurants and museums before moving on to Grasmere, a charming village known for being the home of the famous poet William Wordsworth who described this beauty spot as “the loveliest spot that man hath ever found”. Later we travel to Ambleside, a small town but major tourist resort in the Lakes.
Grange-over-Sands & Bowness
The morning is spent in Grange-over-Sands, a pretty resort with an Edwardian flavour. We then move on to spend the afternoon in Bowness a beautiful town lying on the banks of Lake Windermere. Take a wander around the many visitor attractions and shops or go for a cruise along the largest natural lake in the UK.
Whitehaven & Cockermouth
Our first stop is WHitehaven, this Georgian town, situated on the west coast of Cumbria, was one of the first post-renaissance planned towns in the country. Our next stop is Cockermouth, and attractive market town not overwhelmed by the tourist atmosphere of many other towns in the Lake District.
