Experience some of the most breathtaking scenery in Scotland as we explore the best of what the West Coast has to offer. We’re based in the town of Fort William, the largest town in the West Highlands, with its dramatic setting on the banks of Loch Linnhe and under the mighty hulk of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. The highlight of the tour is a trip on the Jacobite steam railway.

Excursions

Jacobite Steam Railway
Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, we travel from Fort William to Mallaig on board the Jacobite steam train, made famous in the Harry Potter films. This picturesque journey passes through Arisaig, alongside Loch Morar and over the Glenfinnan Viaduct en route to Mallaig, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Isles of Rum, Eigg and Skye.

The Isle Skye
After an early breakfast we travel by road, passing the famous Eilean Donan Castle and over the Skye Bridge to spend the day in the island capital of Portree. Surrounded by high ground and cliffs, Portree is known for its colourful fishing harbour. The main town lies behind the harbour, with the main focus being Somerled Square, home to the mercat cross and war memorial. Portree is charming to wander around and offers a range of interesting speciality shops. Please note, this will be a long but very worthwhile day.

Oban & Fort William
Oban stands unchallenged as the capital of North Argyll and is also known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland offering a remarkable number of award-winning restaurants. On our return to the hotel we will stop off in the centre of Fort William. Attractions within the town include the West Highland Museum, which houses a large collection of Jacobite memorabilia, and the visitor centre at Ben Nevis Distillery, which tells the story of how the giant ‘Hector MacDram’ discovered the ‘Legend of the Dew of Ben Nevis’.
