This delightful new tour combines the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, floral Harrogate and a sense of nostalgia paying tribute to The Railway Children. Highlight of the tour is indeed the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway which runs through the heart of West Yorkshire’s Brontë Country. Lovingly preserved, the line was used in the film “The Railway Children” and countless other TV and cinema period dramas.

Excursions

Skipton
Skipton is the ‘gateway’ to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. The broad, attractive high street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive front of the 900 year old Castle and Skipton Woods. Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best-preserved medieval castles in England. The high street is home to the town’s famous market, with its many varied stalls.

The Railway Children Steam Railway
Running between Keighley and Oxenhope, the railway line is best known for the 1970 film version of The Railway Children. Enjoy a steam train trip through Brontë country past Haworth station, the former home of the famous literary sisters. The train terminates in Oxenhope where you will have time to wander around the village.


Harrogate
Spend a day in an historic spa town famous for its healing waters and a popular destination for the rich and famous of Yorkshire. Enjoy gardens, beautiful parks and handsome tree-lined boulevards. Stroll around the Montpellier Quarter and stop for refreshments at the renowned Bettys Tea Rooms. If shopping is your thing, Harrogate offers everything from independent boutiques to high street names and high-end retailers.

Our free Door to Door service is available to customers within 15 miles of Dunfermline / Edinburgh / Bathgate / Glasgow / Paisley / East Kilbride / Hamilton.

For customers living further afield, Door to Door may be available for a supplement.
