This popular Irish tour combines the tranquil woodland setting of Mallow with visits to the bustling cities of Cork and Killarney. Cork is known as ‘The Real Capital’ and is one of the most popular tourist spots in Ireland whilst Killarney has been named by Trivago as one of the top ten tourist spots in the world! Trips to Waterford and Limerick round off a cracking break to the Emerald Isle.
Day one – We embark on our journey to Ireland with the short ferry trip followed by an overnight in the east of Ireland to break up your journey.
Day two – We set off for Co. Cork and stop en route with time to explore Waterford, home of the famous crystal centre. Later you will check in at the Springfort Hall Hotel, our base for the next four nights.
Day three – A full day to the city of Cork, cheerfully known as ‘The Real Capital’, with its compact, culturally rich centre and surrounded by interesting waterways. Cork has a variety of attractions including the 300-year-old tower of St. Anne’s Church, the French Gothic spires of St. Finbarre’s Cathedral and unique shopping and dining options, including the English Market, with its stalls selling foods from all over the world.
Day four – A free day to explore Mallow and the surrounding area at your leisure. Points of interest include the old Mallow Castle which stands in the middle of the town. Behind it stands the ‘new’ castle, a fine baronial building privately owned and superbly maintained.
Day five – Travel to Killarney, renowned for its natural beauty and nestled in a mountain valley on the edge of a glorious lake. Once legendary for its charms and blend of romance, the town now blends quaint tradition with contemporary style.
Day six – En route to our overnight hotel, we stop off for some time in the Viking city of Limerick, bursting with fascinating historic sights, museums and shops.
Day seven – We begin our journey home after an adventure filled week in Ireland.
